OPPO Find X9 Ultra

OPPO Find X9 Ultra Review

Official Launch and Global Availability

So the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is finally official, and not only that, it's actually going global, including, yes, here in Europe. Now, as you'll know if you've seen my review, I absolutely sped myself silly all over the FX9 Pro—definitely one of the best smartphones you can buy right now. But the Ultra climbs to even more ridiculous heights thanks to the slightly mental camera hardware. I've been playing with the Oppo FX9 Ultra for a few weeks now, and this past week I've had my SIM stuffed in there, using it as my full-time smartphone. So here's my FX9 Ultra review.

Design and Build Quality

As with basically all Ultra smartphones, the Find X9 Ultra is absolutely ruddy enormous. This thing is a 6.8-inch monolith; it's a proper palm stretcher, though at least the bezels surrounding that screen are reasonably skinny. Clearly, lots of heavy tech is stuffed inside of here as well, as it weighs a not-inconsiderable 236 grams. That's more than some full-sized foldable phones, but mercifully, somehow it doesn't feel imbalanced; it doesn't feel particularly top-heavy. Now, you'll want to be careful, because if you're reclining in bed or on the sofa holding this thing up over your head, doing a bit of browsing or whatever, and it happens to slip out of your grasp, you'll probably break your face. 😂

You've got a completely flat screen here—not even a subtle hint of curvature at those edges. Of course, the metal frame is also completely flat, while the corners are only ever-so-slightly rounded. So, the hand-feel is not fantastic—about the same as Samsung's S26 Ultra here. You've got that metal frame, and then flip around to the rear end, and I've got the Tundra Umber—it's the f-ing black one, all right. You've got this soft-touch finish, and apparently, that design was inspired by Hasselblad's X2D camera. Alternatively, you can also grab the FX9 Ultra in a now-apparently-obligatory orange color, and that one's got a brushed matte design constructed from aircraft-grade fiber.

Camera Bump and Ergonomics

Like basically all Ultra smartphones, the FX9 Ultra is all about ridiculously over-the-top camera tech. So, perhaps unsurprisingly, the old camera bump here covers basically half of that back end. It's the kind of protrusion that even Dirk Diggler would be proud of, but I am rather glad for this enormous ruddy mountain truth, as it doubles nicely as a handy finger shelf, thus making one-handed use of the FX9 Ultra at least feasible. That's certainly helped along by that soft-touch back as well, which does add a nice bit of grip. The FX9 Ultra didn't feel quite as ridiculously chunky as some of its rivals, like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra; I could actually just about squeeze this behemoth into my skinniest jeans without completely cutting off the blood supply to my legs.

I got to say, I do rather like the design, which certainly stands out from the crowd as well. I really enjoy the wee splashes of orange, like here on the camera button and that rather subtle orange ring that encircles the camera bump as well. And the FX9 Ultra is a reasonably rugged bugger as well. You've got, I believe, it's Victus 2 Gorilla Glass up front plus a pre-installed screen protector, but sadly not anti-reflective, unlike the Armor Glass on the S26 Ultra. There's a dual nano-lens coating for that bloody massive camera bump as well, just to help prevent scratching, and naturally, it's IP68 and IP69 dust, water, and spurt resistant.

Display and Performance Battery

Secreted inside that sizable screen, you've got yourself an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and it's an absolute banger. Once you're in there, it's ColorOS version 16 slapped on top of the latest Android. The Ultra certainly doesn't disappoint when it comes to display tech either; you've got an almighty 6.82-inch Quad HD+ panel here. It features full Dolby Vision and HDR10 streaming support, and also dims all the way down to just a single nit when you are doomscrolling at 2:00 a.m.

Battery

The performance is as ultra as you would expect, as it is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 stuffed in here, backed by 16 gigs of RAM. Oppo has managed to stuff a mighty 7,050 mAh capacity silicon-carbon cell inside of the FX9 Ultra's girthy frame. Even more demanding users should comfortably make it through a full day on a single charge of this thing. You've got 100-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging support.

Hasselblad Master Camera System

What you've got here is a fresh, new, upgraded Hasselblad Master camera system—that's five new cameras in total. The main shooter is a fresh 200-megapixel Lytia 901 sensor. It's a sizable one, over 1.12 inches with an f/1.5 aperture. Night shots are simply stunning, with impressive levels of detail packed into every image. The FX9 Ultra serves up beautiful photos with seemingly very little processing; this blower feels a lot less heavy-handed compared with Apple and Samsung's efforts.

As for the three-times telephoto zoom, this now boasts a ruddy massive 200-megapixel sensor as well. Meanwhile, the old six-times periscope zoom lens has been replaced now with a 10-times periscope shooter. It's a 50-megapixel sensor co-developed with Samsung and is capable of up to 20 times lossless zoom.

OPPO Find X9 Ultra Prices

The OPPO Find X9. Its high-end flagship model, Ultra (2026 model), is priced at approximately £1,449 ($1,959) in the UK and around €1,700 in Europe. Prices from resellers such as Giztop, which sells the 12GB/512GB model for about $1,499. Expected price in Pakistan is Rs: 254,999. With a 6.82-inch 144Hz 2K display, the device is equipped with a Snapdragon 802. Elite Gen 5. E

Final Review

The OPPO Find is perfect for photographers and those who want to keep their equipment in their pocket. Ultra has set a new standard for 2026, as is evident. This is a phone with even greater aspirations. The. But what do you think? Does the camera bump cause any negative effects on your photos, or do you think the photo quality is compromised?
